200 Building Blocks from goki-nature are the Toy of the Year!

200 building blocks made of untreated beech wood have received the renowned people's prize "The Golden Rocking Horse" as "Toy of the Year 2013" in the category "For artists and architects". The jury consisting of parents, children, educators and toy experts chose the toy as the winner after the readers of the magazine "Familie & Co." had previously voted it one of the best toys of the year.

Toys are for children to enjoy! They should awaken their creativity and foster their skills. Thousands of new toys are launched annually. Every year, the readers of the magazine "Familie & Co."  select the "Toy of the Year" from this huge number. "The Golden Rocking Horse" is Europe's most important people's award for toys. The award is presented annually by Family Media and the German Toy Industry Association.

200 building blocks made of untreated beech wood form a building kit in the new "goki-nature" series, which caters for the consumers' desire for untreated wooden toys. It is quite astounding how many completely different structures can be made using the building blocks which all have the same dimensions," says Sonja Prüter, product developer at Gollnest & Kiesel, clearly delighted by the prestigious award. "The building blocks promote the children's creativity and imagination in particular due to the greatly reduced design and the complete absence of colours."

In the best three: two more toys from goki

The jury of children, educators, parents and toy experts did not have an easy time this year. In two other categories, two goki toys also made it into the top three in the readers' poll.
The doll's hospital with full equipment and bendy dolls from goki was nominated in the category "Everything to please the child's heart".  The perfectly equipped hospital set includes fully functional bendy dolls and many true-to-detail accessories: real cotton balls for the operating theatre, a fully functioning wheelchair, four exchangeable X-ray pictures, a height-adjustable X-ray machine, a drip trolley and much, much more.

Sometimes a Plan B is needed in order to reach a goal. The eponymous family game "Plan B" from goki was nominated for the coveted toy award in the category "For the whole family". Like architects, the players design houses and parks. They must build three houses of the same colour next to each other, but the other players have the possibility to thwart  their plans at any time. The rules of the game are surprisingly simple, and the game is varied and exciting. Critics are fascinated. With "Plan B" there is at last another game which works across generations.

The highlight of the game is that the pieces used are original ANKER Stones. The Anker Stones have been manufactured according to a recipe of the Lilienthal brothers in the Thuringian town of Rudolstadt for over 130 years. They are purely natural products. They are ecologically sound, creating a very special appeal with their weight and their unique feel.
